Practice with the Pros Recap

The range was buzzing before the sun fully rose. Golf bags lined up in neat rows. Notebooks open. Eyes fixed on four of the game's most dedicated professionals—Alexis Belton, Shasta Averyhardt, Lakareber Abe, and Bailey Davis—as they walked onto the practice tee ready to share what most young golfers never get access to: the real work behind tour-level play.

This was Practice with Pros, and for the girls who showed up, it was more than a clinic. It was a masterclass in what it takes to compete at the highest levels of the game.

Filling the Gaps

Here's what we know: talent is everywhere. But access to elite instruction, mental game training, and insider knowledge about the competitive pipeline? That's not. Practice with Pros exists to close that gap.

Over the course of the weekend, participants worked through every part of their game—not just mechanics, but strategy, course management, pre-shot routines, and the mental conditioning that separates good rounds from great ones.

Alexis and Shasta brought their touring experience. Lakareber shared insights from her professional journey. And Bailey—fresh off winning the John Shippin Award during her time at the University of Tennessee—offered a collegiate perspective the girls could see themselves in.

These weren't just instructors. They were mentors. They answered the questions girls don't always know to ask: How do you handle pressure on the back nine? What do college coaches really look for? How do you stay confident when everyone else looks like they belong?

WIGF Girls Showed Up Ready

Half of the participants were WIGF girls—young women who started with us in beginner camps, competed in the Atlanta Girls Cup, and are now preparing for high school teams, college showcases, and beyond. Watching them work alongside girls from other programs, we saw exactly what our pipeline is built to do: prepare our girls to compete, lead, and win at every level.

They weren't intimidated. They asked questions. They took notes. They practiced like they had something to prove—because they do. Not to anyone else, but to themselves.

One mom pulled us aside at the end of the weekend. "She's been playing for three years," she said, watching her daughter drain putts on the practice green. "But this is the first time she's actually seen what the next level looks like. She knows what to work on now."

That's the power of proximity. That's what happens when girls see women who look like them doing the thing they dream of doing.

More Than Mechanics

Yes, swings were refined. Short games tightened. Putting strokes smoothed out. But the real transformation happened in the conversations between drills—the moments when Alexis talked about her journey from junior golf to the tour, or when Shasta broke down how she approaches a tough course setup.

The girls learned that elite golf isn't just about talent. It's about preparation. It's about having a plan. It's about showing up ready to compete, not just participate.

And they learned they belong in those spaces.

Building the Pipeline

Practice with Pros is part of a bigger picture. It's one piece of the developmental pipeline we've been building for over 30 years—a pipeline that starts with a girl's first swing and carries her all the way to college, career, and beyond.

We introduce girls to the game through camps and clinics. We give them a place to compete and grow through the Atlanta Girls Cup. We connect collegiate players with professional development and career pathways through our National Women's Collegiate Golf Championship. And we create moments like Practice with Pros, where girls get access to the instruction, mentorship, and insight that most never receive.

Every piece matters. Every experience builds on the last.

Watch the Highlights

If you want to see what elite instruction and mentorship look like in action, check out the video recap from the weekend. You'll see focus. You'll see growth. You'll see girls who know exactly where they're headed.

What's Next

Practice with Pros is just the beginning. We're committed to creating more opportunities like this—moments where our girls get access to the training, knowledge, and mentorship they need to compete at the next level.

Because talent without opportunity doesn't go anywhere. But talent paired with access, instruction, and mentorship? That changes everything.

Our girls are ready. And with your support, we'll keep making sure they have everything they need to compete, lead, and win.
